Bramingham Primary School made the decision to take part in the initiative of running a mile every day before the school day starts. The practice is an amazing activity and brilliantly effective at keeping young children fit and healthy and it even contributes to improved concentration levels in the classroom.
Unfortunately, hundreds of kids running in a loop every day can very quickly churn up a playing field, and after a little bit of rain, the area can turn into a muddy mess. So the school looked into a number of solutions to this potential problem. After considering Wet pour, which can be slippery in the rain, the school decided on a new artificial grass running track.
The artificial grass that they chose was our Activity Play which has a 12mm pile height and is extremely uniform in its texture, look and feel. From a distance, Activity Play looks a lot like wet pour but with better drainage and grip.
Activity Play comes in a variety of colours including; White, Red, Dark Green, Black, Light Green, Light Grey, Dark Grey, Yellow, Blue, Brown. The Schools decided to go with their school colours of Red and Blue.
The running track is built with a tanalized timber edging on each side and infilled with 6mm to dust aggregate. This creates a sturdy base and a Geotextile membraned prevents movement and stops weeds from coming through. The artificial grass is placed on top and pinned round the sides of the timber. This creates a seamless edge to the installation and a neat finish.
