Our Lady of Victories Catholic Primary School in Kensington have had their playground transformed beyond recognition by installing Nomow Artificial Grass! Using their grant from the Primary Spaces Sport England Lottery Fund, Our Lady of Victories have had over 400m2 of artificial grass installed. Sport England aims to improve primary school Physical Education (PE), sport and activity facilities and launched the Primary Spaces fund to help primary schools who have little or no outside space. Working with Fawns Playtime, Nomow worked over the summer holidays to install a large mound with play tunnels, slides, climbing rains and ropes and of course, the specially designed Primary Spaces kit, which for this installation has been fully customised with bespoke designs using our Rainbow range allowing the school to get the most out of their playground. After weeks of hard work, both the school and the Nomow team are delighted with the finished result and the knowledge that Our Lady of Victories School have years of fun in their no mud, no mess, no mowing new playground ahead of them!
Nomow have recently had the privilege of working with the wonderful Demelza House, with Nomow donating an area of artificial grass and the labour to install safety surfacing and 64m2 of our popular product Luxury Plus to transform their decking area into a soft, green space for the children and families to use year round. Demelza House is a 6-bedded hospice providing a large range of hospice and care services to children, young people and their families local to Nomow manager Adam Luckhurst in Kent. Offering invaluable help and support to life-limited or life threatened children or young people and their families benefit from a wide range of facilities that include the use of multi-sensory and soft play equipment. The hospice offer specialist short-term planned breaks, Emergency short breaks, Palliative care and symptom control, End-of-life care and day care.Nomows Adam Luckhurst has been involved with Demelza House for many years and has said about the project;“Over the last couple of years I have been involved in several fund raisers for Demelza House. They are a children\'s hospice, close to where I live, and they do fantastic work for terminally ill children, with having two young children myself I couldn’t even begin to imagine how those families feel. So when Kimberly Clark asked if I would support them in renovating a decking area it was the least I could do for the children and their families.”Both Nomow and Demelza House are delighted with the finished project and Nomow are proud to have had the opportunity to do what little we can to help this wonderful charity.
Cheshire Ice Cream Farm is a family friendly tourist attraction offering days out all year round. Receiving around 50,000 visitors a year, the sites activity areas were quickly deteriorating and struggling to cope with changing weather conditions, regular usage and heavy footfall. Nomow were brought in as part of their £4 million pound redevelopment, installing almost 300m2 of Naturel artificial grass in the Farms children’s play area ‘Daisy’s Garden’. Naturel is a great choice for children’s play areas as it has a longer, more ‘random’ looking 36mm grass pile height, making it softer underfoot, working brilliantly around the mounds and tunnels in Daisy’s Garden and around their giant Toadstool and magical Ice Cream Tree!
One thing that Nomow have discovered to be true after many years creating fantastic, bespoke, exciting play spaces for kids is that one thing that children love as much as being able to play outdoors come rain or shine is Colour and Lots of it! It’s true that Nomow have never shied away from the challenge of creating unique play areas with a twist for young children- just take a look at the pirate ship we created for Colemans Infant School! But Corby Primary School have given Nomow the challenge of creating something completely new for both us and them- an entirely bespoke Caterpillar design using Nomows Rainbow Range. The full installation covered the schools infant play area and completed the transformation including the installation of new play equipment, mounds and tunnels (which the grass needed to be installed around) using skilled professional workmanship. The caterpillar itself was designed and cut to specification by hand at Nomow HQ by our experienced fitter Will. We think the finished result looks incredible and look forward to taking on more Rainbow challenges in future!
Castleview School came to us looking for a complete transformation of a dull, grey, concrete play-area, which was no longer serving the school or the children. After having exciting new play equipment installed by Nomow collaborators Hags SMP, we covered the school’s entire nursery and reception play area with soft and durable range Nomow Play 365.Play 365 was the perfect choice for Castleview’s requirements, as the area was being used regularly by the youngest children in the school.Play 365 is specifically designed with play in mind, and makes an exceptionally soft surface for children to enjoy. Its unrivalled resilience and great bounce-back makes this range ideal for areas being heavily used by children. It is also of course covered by Nomow’s 10 Year Installation Guarantee, which means school staff can rest assured their play area will remain beautiful, fun for the children, and maintenance free all year round.Nomow also worked closely with the school to provide a completely bespoke design for the playground, incorporating Rainbow Range zig-zags and spots around the new play equipment.
Nomow arrived at Hazelwood Towers in the spring of 2015 to transform the schools previously tarmac surface into a versatile, well draining Multi Use Gaming Area that can be used 365 days a year and won’t be put out of use by the rather British Summertime we’ve been experiencing! The new MUGA is an impressively large installation at over 640m2 using Nomow Extreme which has a rubber crumb infill and holds the title of one of Nomows most hard-wearing and versatile products. The Nomow team have managed to get some ‘Birds eye view’ photos from the upstairs of the school to show off the scale of the pitch, which we know will be enjoyed for years to come, with the school enjoying full peace of mind that the MUGA is covered by Nomows 10 Year Installation Guarantee
Nomow are back on site at Bilston Primary for January ‘15 to complete the schools Fourth installation of artificial grass for their play area which will take the grand total up to over 1000m2 of artificial grass! After having had a resin bound rubber shred surface installed previously which had shrunk and become damaged requiring arduous care and maintenance work for the schools caretakers, Bilston decided to explore other options, and with the schools head teacher Mr Gentle already enjoying the benefits of artificial grass in his garden at home, Nomow was the obvious choice! With the original installation taking place in July of 2013 when the school had over 300m2 of Naturel installed, Bilston Primary have come back to Nomow again and again to transform more and more of their play area, including a brand new area with their fantastic ‘Loch Ness Monster’ feature! The new artificial grass installation for 2015 will be taking place around the schools ‘rabbit run’ area of the playground rescuing the current muddy grass where the children watch the schools pet rabbits, giving them a more durable, all weather friendly surface that won’t become a muddy swamp in the winter!

Summer 2014 saw Nomow working with Volken Fitzpatrick in the creation of a brand new public play area at Wembley Stadium. The landscape architect Applied Landscape Design, were asked to create an outdoor play area as part of a grand regeneration including designer shops, restaurants, a cinema and performance space. The play equipment which was exclusively designed and installed for the site by Russell Play was themed to reflect the original towers of Wembley Stadium. The playground was to be located just outside of the stadium, facing the new London Designer Outlet but also catering for the many businesses along the boulevard and local housing developments. Nomow tendered against a number of other artificial grass companies, initially to transform the play area, however this was soon expanded to meet the requests for further quotations from businesses situated along the boulevard to include a 7-10 metre wide strip in front of the shops, restaurants and hotels. With the play area requiring significant landscaping Nomow assisted with the construction of the groundwork and were also required to use our ShockSafe Impact pads system to achieve the required Critical Fall Height for the areas surrounding the play equipment. As real grass lawns rapidly deteriorate if used for more than 6 hours per week Summer or Winter, Nomow Play 365 has been designed specifically for areas such as this ensuring that the play area can be used all year round and for years to come.
Black Firs Primary School in Cheshire realised the benefits of Nomow and brought us in to remove the muddy bark and earth which had left their play area flooded & unsafe, and install over 700m2 of our brand new Play 365 artificial grass. Nomow also installed brand new drainage solutions eliminating the problem of floods, and installed our Nomows Shock Safe impact pads system giving a 3m Critical Fall Height around the play equipment. At Nomow our technical team can assist with all aspects of product specification and pricing, design, landscaping and ground works.
Prior to Nomow’s arrival in 2011 the play equipment for this primary school was installed in an enormous sand pit. The sand had become contaminated over time with rubbish, dirt and all number of things no-one wants their children running around in, so the school brought in Nomow to put it right! Our installation crews worked over a period of weeks to stabilise the existing sand base by adding cement, creating a level surface suitable for the artificial grass to be installed on top- saving the school a phenomenal £25,0000- the estimated cost of having the entire sand base dug out and removed from site!
No more muddy PE lessons for Ramridge Primary in Luton! Nomow installed this All Weather Pitch in November of 2013, using Nomow Extreme (rubber crumb infill) perfect heavy use areas. Working closely with the school Nomow designed and installed the MUGA- complete with lines for football and other sports- and replaced the unforgiving tarmac surface that had been in place previously.
Another project that has been part of the Waltham Forrest regeneration project , Bisterne Avenue was in a sorry state before Nomow and Eibe came along to transform the site. The old surfacing was worn out and unsightly with very visible lines and joins in the material, with the colour faded to a grey-ish green. The consultation with local residents showed they wanted something with a natural feeling but would last much longer and would still fit in with the surroundings and design of the park.Nomow installed over 200m2 of our popular Luxury Plus and created a ‘river’ design using our rainbow range to work with Eibe’s Ship Themed play equipment, completely transforming the park into a bright and imaginative play area that will most certainly look incredible for years to come.
Splashes, hopscotches, numbers, water and even fish are all just a selection of what the Nomow Rainbow range can bring to your school/nursery play area or playground. Greenleaf Play area, part of the Waltham Forrest regeneration project in East London features splashes, mounds and tunnels encouraging creative play for the children while also being installed with Nomow Shock Safe, providing critical fall height safety for the parents peace of mind!
An incredible installation of over 900m2 of Luxury Plus, working with Eibe Play to create an amazing new ‘Titanic Themed’ play area, this site perfectly showcases how Nomow works in children’s play areas and how we can work with you to create beautiful imaginative spaces that look lush and green all year round.
