5 Tips For An Eco-Friendly Garden

While it may seem like there is nothing greener than doing a bit of gardening, some aspects of our gardens can have a big impact on the environment.

From the huge water wastage caused by hosepipes to the presence of carbon emissions produced by petrol-powered lawn mowers, there are a number of practises that can be surprisingly damaging.

Luckily, there are plenty of ways we can enjoy gardening in a constructive and healthy way so here at Nomow we thought we’d bring you a guide to some of the quick and simple changes you can make in order to make your garden more eco-friendly.

  1. Recycle water

We get plenty of rain here in the UK so it makes sense to make the most of it! Water butts are a great way to reduce your water usage. Keep a container outside all year round ready to collect any rain or even grey water from your bathroom/kitchen – you can then use whatever you’ve collected to water your garden.

  1. Use green gardening equipment

You may not realise it but your gardening tools and equipment could be causing a great deal of damage to the environment. Petrol powered lawnmowers, hedge trimmers and leaf blowers all emit harmful fumes into the atmosphere but there are plenty of eco-friendly alternatives. Look out for battery or solar powered garden tools, or equipment that’s powered by electricity rather than gas

  1. Chemical free

Chemical pesticides and fertilisers contribute to a whole host of environmental issues – polluting our water, air and even harming human health. Go chemical free by making organic compost and leaf mould – not only will this reduce your household and garden waste, it will reduce the need for harmful fertilisers and pesticides.

  1. Green grass

Replacing natural grass gardens with low maintenance artificial grass could solve a whole host of eco-issues in one go. Not only would you save huge amounts of water, you could even reduce the presence of harmful pesticides and carbon emissions emitted by mowers (which can contribute as much as 8% to global warming!)

  1. Recycle

A huge step in the industry means that there is now equipment which can effectively remove and reclaim artificial grass, meaning the processed turf can be repurposed or recycled into other products.

With a 5-year guarantee on all Nomow artificial grass, you can ensure that year after year you are naturally reducing the poisonous effect that toxic chemicals, air pollution and water usage are having on our environment.

If you buy now you won’t just be helping to save the environment, you could also save yourself huge amounts of money with up to 50% off in our massive winter clearance!
