Friends Take on Charity Rally in Nomow Covered Car!

Three friends from Stockport recently completed a 3,000-mile journey for charity – in a Nomow artificial grass covered car!

Oliver Colclough, Tom Graham and Alex Dale, who have all been friends since school, took part in the annual event Scumrun – a five-day rally across Europe.

The trio, who dubbed themselves the ‘Weapons of Grass Destruction’, transformed their £500 BMW by covering it with Nomow artificial grass to take on the challenge.

The event took the team from Dunkirk in France to iconic cities and racetracks across Europe, including Dijon, Nice, Monaco, the Great St. Bernard Pass, Stuttgart, Hockenheim, Nurburgring and the Belgian Formula 1 race circuit Spa.

This year’s event was in aid of diabetes charity JDRF, for whom the trio raised over £6,000.

Oliver said the Nomow turf hadn’t ‘had a positive effect on the MPG, but it’s all for a good cause and the car certainly gets noticed!’.

The cars unusual modifications attracted the team lots of attention in each country and helped them smash their fundraising target of £5,000.

Alex said: “It was amazing. Anywhere we stopped, no matter what the country, passers-by wanted to come over and stroke the BMW 523i. Even in Monaco!”

The Nomow team would like to say a huge congratulations to the Weapons of Grass Destruction team, and look forward to seeing their entry for next years event!
