Most spills can be rinsed away; however if stubborn stains remain after a hosing you can use a mild, natural soap on the affected area. The key to effectively removing stains is to move quickly as they are most easily cleaned away when they are in liquid form.

For tougher removal of chewing gum or sticky sweets, you can use a plastic knife or similar tool to remove completely.

Be careful not to use harsh chemicals or solvents on your lawn as this could end up damaging the turf.

While stubborn stains can always be dealt with, it’s best to avoid certain spillages before they happen. Stains caused by substances like grease and oil can discolour or even damage artificial turf. Prevent accidents by avoiding contact with similar substances and keeping vehicles and tools away from artificial grass.

If you have pets in your household, then you can rest assured that only a little extra maintenance is required to keep the turf clean.

To remove pet waste, simply use your preferred method to remove it and simply hose down the area.

As with anything located outside, artificial grass needs some general maintenance to keep it looking perfect. Saying this, maintenance of artificial turf need only take half an hour a week and will keep it looking green and gorgeous for an astonishing 20 years.

To keep your lawn looking brand new we recommend:

  • Giving your lawn a simple wash down with a hosepipe – especially if you have pets.
  • Keeping the site free of leaves and organic debris
  • Giving your lawn a quick brush once every month

There is no need for special tools to clean artificial grass; you should only require the most basic garden equipment.

In most cases, all you will have to do to clean artificial grass is wash it with water, or let the rain cleanse it naturally. The turf will not breakdown if you fail to clean it.

Artificial grass lasts for years, is safe for kids and pets, wears well under hot sun and can be nearly as soft as real grass. It does not harbour pests like real grass does and can be installed over concrete. However, these simple tips will keep it clean and safe for everyone to enjoy.
